Jessica SnapperThe writer has a Masters degree in Security Intelligence with a concentration in Counter terrorism and the Middle East. Her areas of expertise include terrorist infrastructure, asymmetric warfare, tactical adaptability, deterrence and national defence policy, developed through intensive coursework and professional experience. She has conducted in-depth research at both the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs and the Hebrew University’s Department of Political Violence and Terrorism.

Most recently, Snapper worked at Asero for Doron Bergerbest, former head of the Security & Protection Division in the Shin Bet. She supported consulting projects for foreign dignitaries, including researching and analysing homeland security topics for presentation. She also worked part-time as a coordinator for the International Relations Forum at the Knesset, organising events, networking for donor relations and developing strategic direction to promote the Forum’s expansion.

In 2010, Snapper worked for Steven Emerson at the Investigative Project on Terrorism (IPT) in Washington DC. She operated in teams collecting primary data for dossiers on Hezbollah, Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood and other proxy groups operating in the United States.

In 2005, Snapper developed her reporting and analytical skills through her work at Haaretz News. She wrote articles on cultural trends in Tel Aviv, updated the daily homepage, collaborated with editors and conducted interviews.

Snapper’s interest in security began in 2003, when she pursued an internship with the Montgomery County Police Department. She received specialised training in the Domestic Violence Unit, assisted officers in the field during nighttime patrolling and organised evidence and classified paperwork for court trials.

During the course of her graduate studies, Snapper conducted independent studies with a former CIA senior officer and received honours citations for her analysis and reporting on tactical adaptability in the Israeli security community and the IDF’s handling of asymmetric threats during the Intifada (both papers are currently under review for publication in Israel). She was also the managing editor of a comprehensive 90-page published report on the most recent Mumbai attacks, presented to the Department of State, SWAT, CIA, RAND and other IC members.

Snapper is an American-Israeli citizen, currently residing in Jerusalem, Israel.
