Given the Chinese challenge, India needs to take a series of measures to boost its sea power in the IOR. These include building a 65,000 ton aircraft carrier, six more conventional submarines of the much delayed Project 75(I), setting up more naval air stations in strategically located islands off its west and east coast, satellites for surveillance, communications and real time maritime domain awareness (MDA).
