New Delhi, 23.04.2015: On 22.04.2015 at about 2341 hrs, a foreign lady passenger came at departure gate No. 03 of Terminal -3 at IGI Airport, New Delhi to gain access in the terminal building. During profiling, the activities of the said lady passenger were found suspicious by the CISF surveillance & intelligence staff. She was selected for thorough checking/screening of her belongings and her luggage was passed through X-ray Baggage Inspection System (X-BIS) at departure gate No. 03 of Terminal -3 at IGI Airport. During screening of her luggage, Sub-Inspector Dayanan Sharma of CISF detected narcotic substance kept in 09 packets (in powder form) wrapped in bed-sheet and pillow cover.

On enquiry, it came to notice that the said lady passenger was carrying two tickets one for domestic flight and another for international flight. The domestic flight ticket was of AI-634 (STD-0600 hrs) bound to Mumbai on 23.04.2015. Another was of Johannesburg via Abu Dhabi by flight No. EY-211 (STD-0450 hrs). She produced domestic flight ticket to gain access into the terminal building, as a part of her plan to avoid the concentration on her and also to avoid scanning by custom. In-fact, she was supposed to go to Johannesburg via Abu Dhabi. The lady passenger was later identified as Ms. Rachael Zulu, (aged – 31, South-African National, Passport No. AO2751110). She was on tourist visa to India.

The matter was immediately informed to Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) officials. On arrival of NCB officials the seized narcotic substance was confirmed as “Pseudo-ephedrine drug” weighing about 23.6 kg.

The estimated value of the recovered “Pseudo-ephedrine drug” in International market would be Rs. 24 lakhs approximately. The apprehended lady alongwith the recovered narcotic substance was handed over to NCB officials by CISF for further legal action.
