| | | Share |

Centre for Airborne Systems (CABS), DRDO has successfully developed Air Borne Early Warning and Control System (AEW&C) for Indian Air Force. The system has been realised on Embraer Executive Jet EMB-145. The structural modification of the aircraft has been carried out by Embraer for mounting of Airborne radar, Satcom and other Antennas and Sensors required for the operation. Mid Air refuelling option is also incorporated to provide extended operations. This is the only aircraft in this class having the mid-air refuelling feature. While the modified aircraft is by Embraer, modifications have been worked out jointly with CABS and Embraer. The complete Mission systems of AEW&C are indigenously designed and developed by CABS and manufactured indigenously with the association of Indian industries.

AEW&C was showcased in Bahrain first time outside the country with flying display in “Bahrain International Air Show” and has received overwhelming response. The Crown Prince of Bahrain, Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa along with the high level team visited AEW&C system and spent considerable time and highly appreciated the AEW&C system.

AEW&C was also displayed in International Defence exhibition “INDO Defence Expo & Forum – 2014 (IDEF-2014)” at Jakarta and during the recently held Aero India-15 at Bangalore. The system has attracted senior delegations and numbers of countries have evinced keen interest in acquiring the system.
