Minister of Defence witnesses hand-over of signed participation contracts for DSA 2018 at special networking event.

Langkawi, 22 March 2017 – A total of two signed participation contracts for Defence Services Asia (DSA) 2018, were handed over to YB Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, Minister of Defence, at a special networking event yesterday.

The contracts were presented by Ida De Mari, coordinator for the Italy Pavilion and Nicholas de Fougeroux, Thales Country Director in the presence of Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin, Chairman of DSA Exhibition & Conference Sdn Bhd.

Set to take place from 16-19 April 2018, DSA 2018 anticipates over 1,200 companies from 60 countries to take part in the upcoming exhibition. DSA 2018 will be held for the first time at the brand-new Malaysia International Trade Exhibition Centre (MITEC), the country’s largest exhibition venue, to accommodate the growing interest from both exhibitors and participants from the international defence community

YB Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, Minister of Defence speaking at the presentation ceremony for DSA 2018.

Celebrating a major milestone of its 30th anniversary next year, the upcoming DSA 2018 is expected to occupy 42,000 sqm of space and an expansion of up to 30% in show size. Thales and the Italian pavilion are among the key exhibitors who will make their mark at the show.

“We can offer 45% more heavy and large exhibits area as each level of the venue is able to support heavy weight and also provides easy access for exhibits with heavy load at their spacious loading bays. Now that we have appropriate space for you to showcase your products and to expand your booth, I encourage our exhibitors to bring more actual exhibits to the show,” said Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein at the event.

“I am excited to share with you, at DSA 2018 another feature will be added to DSA’s already extensive profile. The organiser is introducing National Security Asia (NatSec Asia) – The International Exhibition on National Security for Asia. The uniqueness of this particular security show is that NatSec Asia will be held alongside the already established DSA. This will be a well-established launch pad for the new show,” added Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin.

In the spirit of enhancing regional defence cooperation and bolstering the ASEAN spirit, DSA has entered into a strategic partnership with the show “Defence & Security Thailand”. This is an effort to foster greater understanding and cooperation between the defence tri-services of both countries. It is also a crucial platform to promote foreign technology partnerships, in line with MINDEF’s plans to develop and advance national defence and services sectors.

Since its debut show in 1988 with only 394 participating companies, DSA has more than tripled in size. More than just a showcase of the latest defence technologies, weaponries and services, DSA 2018 will bring together various governments, military agencies and defence mechanisms from across the region, in the interest of forging greater alliance and trust between all parties.
