Our heartiest greetings and best wishes to Indian Army on the Army Day!

I still remember one of my seniors in school who hailed from a village in Haryana who told me about a fact of his family arrangement: He was the youngest son in the family and his two elder brothers were in the Armed Forces - one in the Indian Army and the other in the Indian Navy. He had decided to stay at home after his education and support his father in the farming and agriculture business. When asked why he did not want to join the Armed Forces like his other two brothers, he clarified that the arrangement in his family was that at least two sons would join the Armed Forces to serve the motherland and the youngest one would take care of the family responsibilities. This arrangement had been prevailing in his family for the past three generations and his father being the youngest son had kept up the family tradition and he, a student still, was expected to do the same.

One more foreign dignitary visited us this month. There were many during the year from all parts of the globe and there will, undoubtedly, be more such visits before the sun sets on 2010. It has become an old ritual that our VIPs visit other countries and their dignitaries visit us in return and so on. But I do not understand what is the purpose of such visits. Have we ever given thought to what is the substantial outcome of such visits? Do we have any mechanism to assess the outcome of such visits on which our government spends millions of rupees every year?

When the whole world is applauding and sharing the fruits of India’s booming economy and prospects of unprecedented growth, some hidden and some not so hidden forces with ulterior motives are trying their best to disturb and destabilise its peaceful progress directly and indirectly.

Our heartiest greetings and best wishes to Indian Air Force on the occasion of IAF day

Dear readers,

DSA was conceived and visualised very spontaneously. The journey started with a thought. And the trigger was 26/11 and its aftermath. It took just a couple of weeks to fine-tune the idea and publish the inaugural issue of the magazine with a very small team and today it's a matter of great pleasure to share with you that DSA has completed one year since its inception and this is the 13th issue in your hands.
