The latest move to increase FDI in defence to 74 per cent through the automatic route, giving the foreign investor controlling interest, will likely lead to increased FDI inflows in the defence sector. Should this materialise, it would bring in much needed technology and finances, giving a huge boost to India’s efforts to achieve self-reliance in the defence sector.
