India Launches ‘Operation Sindoor’ to Avenge Pahalgam Massacre, Targets Nine Terror Camps

India launched Operation Sindoor, a precision strike against terror camps in Pakistan and PoK.

With a focus on restraint and precision, Indian forces avoided striking Pakistani military installations, signalling a calculated and non-escalatory response. A detailed briefing on the mission is expected later today.New Delhi, May 7, 2025- India has launched a targeted military response—‘Operation Sindoor’—to punish those behind the barbaric Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 innocent lives, including that of a Nepali national. The operation, conducted by the Indian Armed Forces in the early hours of Wednesday, focused on nine terrorist infrastructure sites located across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).According to an official statement released by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), these precision strikes were designed to dismantle facilities believed to be central to the planning and execution of cross-border terrorism. Notably, no Pakistani military assets were targeted, reinforcing India’s intent to respond without provoking further escalation."India has shown significant restraint both in the selection of targets and the method of execution,” the government said. “The strikes are focused, measured, and non-escalatory."The operation follows widespread public outrage over the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, where armed militants opened fire on a group of unarmed tourists, killing 26 and injuring dozens. The brutality of the act, particularly its targeting of civilians, has drawn international condemnation and renewed focus on Pakistan’s role in sheltering terror outfits.A senior official added that credible intelligence inputs had confirmed the involvement of terrorist entities operating under the patronage of Pakistan’s deep state. The selected targets included training camps, weapons depots, and logistical hubs used by Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and other Pakistan-based terrorist outfits.“India stands by its commitment that those responsible for this heinous act will be held accountable,” said a senior government spokesperson.Diplomatic channels have also been activated, with India briefing key global partners on the rationale and scope of the operation. Defence analysts have described the strikes as a repeat of India’s evolving doctrine of proactive counter-terrorism, echoing past operations like Surgical Strikes (2016) and Balakot Air Strikes (2019).While Pakistan has yet to officially respond, early reactions from global observers have praised India’s measured use of force and adherence to international norms in targeting non-state actors while avoiding national military conflict.A comprehensive briefing by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of External Affairs is scheduled for later today, where more operational details are expected to be disclosed, including footage, damage assessment, and potential next steps in the broader counter-terror campaign.
