A Memorandum of Understanding to enhance cooperation in investigating cyber crime cases has been signed between India and the US on 17 January 2025, in Washington DC. The MoU was signed by Shri Vinay Kwatra, the Ambassador of India to the United States and Ms. Kristie Canegallo, the Acting United States Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS).
The agreement strives to strengthen collaboration on shared security challenges, including terrorism, terror financing, violent extremism, organised crime, drug and human trafficking, illegal migration and money laundering.
The MoU allows the respective agencies of the two countries; the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its constituent agencies the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the Homeland Security Investigations Cyber Crimes Center (C3) to escalate the training with respect to the use of cyber threat intelligence and digital forensics in criminal investigations. This is an integral step towards India-US security cooperation as part of their global strategic partnership.
